Scribbr is an academic proofreading and editing service for students around the globe. Scribbr was founded in the Netherlands in 2012 and headquartered in the TQ building in the center of Amsterdam. It’s considered one of the fastest-growing startups in the Netherlands. As of July 2020, the Scribbr team of over 60 young professionals and 500+ freelance editors is on a mission is to help students graduate and become better academic writers. They provide high-quality services by placing a strong emphasis on teamwork, empowerment, technological innovation, continuous improvement, and fun at work.

Editors

Scribbr editors have a passion for language; they currently proofread in English, Dutch, German, French, Norwegian, Italian, Swedish, Spanish, Finnish, and Danish. The three founders started Scribbr in 2012 with a team of one editor. Today, the editing team has grown to over 500 editors and over 60 office employees to provide support.

To become a Scribbr editor, applicants must complete a language quiz, an application, and a month-long training program. Professional editors must be Native speakers, University graduates, and expert writers with knowledge in a variety of fields.

Services

Scribbr provides academic proofreading and editing services in the form of proofreading and editing, structure checks, clarity checks, reference checks, and layout checks.

Scribbr editors proofread and edit admissions essays, capstone projects, journal articles, manuscripts, research proposals, theses, Ph.D. dissertations, and research and term papers in 10 different languages.

A Structure Check editor checks papers to make sure that it is well-organized and contains all the critical elements. The feedback is provided with in-text comments and a personalized Structure Check Report.

A Clarity Check editor helps clients tell a clear and logical story using a Clarity Checklist. Their feedback focuses on the presentation of concepts and the logic behind argumentations.

Reference Check editors improve reference pages and in-text citations. Reference Check editors specialize in APA, MLA, and Chicago style.

Layout Check editors generate an automatic table of contents and lists of tables and figures, ensure paragraph formatting is consistent, and insert page numbers.

Pricing

Pricing varies depending on four factors: the number of words you want to be edited, how fast you want your document returned, your education level, and the type of service.

How many words do you want to be edited? Scribbr won’t charge you for a full document. You select what you want to be edited and only pay for that amount.

A document can be returned in 24 hours, three days, or one week. The longer the deadline, the lower the cost. Editors are available 365 days a year, including weekends and holidays.

Scribbr offers two education level options: university/college and Ph.D./MBA.

Proofreading and editing is the default service. Structure Checks and Clarity Checks are add-ons and increase the price of the order. 

How it works

Scribbr has an easy four-step process. One, upload a document and select the pages in need of editing. Two, choose the service and turnaround time of 24 hours, three days, or 7 days. Three, select the field of study and upload all the instructions. Four, relax and wait for Scribbr to contact you when the service is completed.
